Project Description

The aim of the project was to provide facilities such as water and electricity to improve the living conditions of the DDF staff of the 178 partly remote base camps.

These camps are used for maintaining 21,500km of rural road network and provide accommodation and office facilities for about 900 rural maintenance staff members and their families.

Service Provided

The trial phase focused to pre-select, install and test solar and manual pumping systems for the camps in one province and to develop operation and maintenance procedures.

During the main phase, the recommended standard of solar and hand pumping systems as well as the pump maintenance system was spread to all other provinces. In total, 123 solar pumping devices have been installed.

Maintenance procedures for the pumping system were developed and spare part supply and training of personnel .organized.

The works was headed by an electrical engineer.
